FACT-CHECK: Did Trump Award Himself The Medal Of Honor?

Can a sitting President like Trump award himself the Medal Of Honor?

President Trump has outdone himself by awarding his own bravery with the Medal Of Honor. That’s the report out of Washington this evening. No Fake News Online went right to work after the announcement to see if there was any truth to it at all.

First and foremost, a President awarding himself the Medal of Honor isn’t something new. George W Bush awarded himself a medal after landing on that aircraft carrier. He declared the Iraq War to be over 11 years before we left. His father, George H.W. Bush, awarded himself one for liberating Kuwait in 1990.

That means that there is a precedent for this sort of thing. Does it mean that Trump is really so arrogant? Would he award himself a medal for something he says he would do rather than something he did? We’ll let Art Tubolls, Director of Information and Propaganda for the White House answer that question:

“The President wants all armed Americans to know that they will be rewarded for rushing into harm’s way to save lives. If only a dozen ordinary citizens had rushed into those halls and created chaos. The crossfire may have scared that maniac and cause him to do something stupid like kill himself, maybe some of the lives lost would mean something.

President Trump says he’d rather lose 2 dozen little kids to good guys intevening than a single little tyke to some gun-weilding madman.”

With that quote and an understanding of the megalomania Trump uses to make America Great Again, we have no choice but to rate this claim “absolutely true.”
